Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Four verses were revealed concerning me. Then he narrated the hadith. In it (it is mentioned) that Umm Sa'd said: "Has Allah not commanded kindness to one's mother? By Allah, I will neither eat nor drink until you disbelieve or I die." When they wanted to feed her or give her drink, they would prise her mouth open with a stick and pour the food and water into her mouth. Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And We have enjoined upon man goodness towards his parents; but if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them."
