أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزِيدٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ، قَالُوا: ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي بُسْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ، يَقُولُ: كَانَ النَّاسُ يَسْأَلُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْخَيْرِ، وَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يُدْرِكَنِي، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا فِي جَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَشَرٍّ، فَجَاءَنَا اللهُ بِهَذَا الْخَيْرِ، فَهَلْ بَعْدَ هَذَا الْخَيْرِ مِنْ شَرٍّ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "، قَالَ: فَهَلْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الشَّرِّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَفِيهِ دَخَنٌ "، قُلْتُ: وَمَا دَخَنُهُ؟ قَالَ: " قَوْمٌ يَهْدُونَ بِغَيْرِ هَدْيِي، تَعْرِفُ مِنْهُمْ وَتُنْكِرُ "، قُلْتُ: هَلْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الْخَيْرِ مِنْ شَرٍّ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، دُعَاةٌ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، مَنْ أَجَابَهُمْ إِلَيْهِا قَذَفُوهُ فِيهَا "، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صِفْهُمْ لَنَا، قَالَ: " هُمْ مِنْ جِلْدَتِنَا، وَيَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِنَا "، قُلْتُ: فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي إِنْ أَدْرَكَنِي ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: " تَلْزَمُ جَمَاعَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِمَامَهُمْ "، قُلْتُ: فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ جَمَاعَةٌ وَلَا إِمَامٌ؟ قَالَ: " فَاعْتَزِلْ تِلْكَ الْفِرَقَ كُلَّهَا، وَلَوْ أَنْ تَعَضَّ بِأَصْلِ شَجَرَةٍ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَكَ الْمَوْتُ وَأَنْتَ كَذَلِكَ ". قَالَ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ⦗٢٧٠⦘ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: صِفْهُمْ لَنَا، قَالَ: " هُمْ مِنْ كَذَا، وَيَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِنَا ". لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ.
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: People used to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about good, and I used to ask him about evil, out of fear that some evil might come upon me. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! We were in ignorance (jahiliyyah) and evil, and Allah brought this good; will there be any evil after this good? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." I asked again: Will there then be good after that evil? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, but there will be 'dakhan' (smoke, i.e. impurity) in it." I asked: What is its 'dakhan'? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People who will seek guidance in other than my guidance; you will approve of some of their ways and reject others." I said: Will there be evil after that good? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, people who will call (others) to Hell; whoever accepts their call will go into Hell." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Describe them to us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will be from among us and will speak our language." I said: If I meet them, what should I do? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hold fast to the community (jama'ah) of the Muslims and their leader (imam)." I asked: And if at that time the Muslims have no community and no leader? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep away from all those sects, even if you have to cling to the root of a tree, until death comes to you."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، ثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ، ثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ وَفَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ فَمَاتَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً، وَمَنْ قَاتَلَ تَحْتَ رَايَةٍ عِمِّيَّةٍ يَغْضَبُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ، أَوْ يَدْعُو إِلَى عَصَبِيَّةٍ، أَوْ يَنْصُرُ عَصَبِيَّةً فَقُتِلَ فَقِتْلَةٌ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ عَلَى أُمَّتِي يَضْرِبُ بَرَّهَا وَفَاجِرَهَا، لَا يَتَحَاشَى مِنْ مُؤْمِنِهَا، وَلَا يَفِي لِذِي عَهْدِهَا، فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ بْنِ فَرُّوخٍ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leaves obedience and separates from the community (jama'ah), and dies in that state, has died the death of jahiliyyah. Whoever fights under a banner of 'ummiyyah' (blind cause), becoming angry for tribal partisanship, calling to tribal partisanship or supporting tribal partisanship, and is killed, his killing is a killing of jahiliyyah. And whoever rises against my Ummah, striking down its righteous and its wicked alike, not sparing its believers and not keeping faith with those under its covenant, he is not of me and I am not of him."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، بِبَغْدَادَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرُّزَازُ، ثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَابِقٍ، ثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، وَسَالِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ قَالَ: هَاتُوا لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وِسَادَةً، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَجِئْكَ لِأَجْلِسَ، إِنَّمَا جِئْتُكَ لِأُحَدِّثَكَ بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ خَلَعَ يَدًا مِنْ طَاعَةٍ لَقِيَ اللهَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ فِي عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً " أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَاصِمٍ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ سَالِمًا فِي إِسْنَادِهِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Abdullah bin Muti', who, on seeing him, said: Bring a cushion for Abu Abd al-Rahman. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have not come to sit; I have come to tell you a hadith which I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever withdraws his hand from obedience (to the leader) will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection with no argument (in his defence), and whoever dies without a pledge of allegiance has died the death of jahiliyyah."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ، ثَنَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ، ثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ: " وَأَنَا آمُرُكُمْ بِخَمْسِ كَلِمَاتٍ أَمَرَنِي اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِنَّ: الْجَمَاعَةُ وَالسَّمْعُ وَالطَّاعَةُ وَالْهِجْرَةُ وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَمَن خَرَجَ مِنَ الْجَمَاعَةِ قِيدَ شِبْرٍ فَقَدْ خَلَعَ رِبْقَةَ الْإِسْلَامِ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ، إِلَّا أَنْ يُرَاجِعَ، وَمَنْ دَعَا دَعْوَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ جُثَا جَهَنَّمَ "، قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى، فَادْعُوا بِدَعْوَةِ اللهِ الَّذِي سَمَّاكُمْ بِهَا الْمُسْلِمِينَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَبَّادَ اللهِ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Harith al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "I command you with five things which Allah Almighty has commanded me: 'al-sam'' (listening), 'al-ta'ah' (obedience), 'al-jama'ah' (the community), 'al-hijrah' (emigration) and 'al-jihad fi sabilillah' (striving in the path of Allah). Whoever separates from the community by even a hand-span has removed the noose of Islam from his neck, unless he returns; and whoever makes a call of jahiliyyah is among the people of Hell." A man said: Even if he observes prayer and fasting? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if he observes prayer and fasting. Call people with the call of Allah, Who has named you Muslims, believers and servants of Allah."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أَنْبَأَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثَنَا ⦗٢٧١⦘ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، وَزُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أُهْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ فَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ شِبْرًا فَقَدْ خَلَعَ رِبْقَةَ الْإِسْلَامِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ ".
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever separates from the community by even a hand-span has removed the noose of Islam from his neck."
