أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، نا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، أنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْجُوزَجَانِيُّ، نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَارِيَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ عَلَيَّ عِتْقَ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا: " أَيْنَ اللهُ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ بِإِصْبَعِهَا، فَقَالَ لَهَا: " فَمَنْ أَنَا؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ تَعْنِي أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ ".
Abdullah bin Utbah narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a black slave girl and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I owe the freeing of a believing slave." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "Where is Allah?" She pointed with her finger to the sky. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who am I?" She pointed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and to the sky, meaning: You are the Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is a believer; free her."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ، نا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ، نا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، نا أَبُو مَعْدَانَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ يَعْنِي عَامِرَ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، نا عَوْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَمَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ عَلَيَّ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً أَفَتُجْزِئُ عَنِّي هَذِهِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ رَبُّكِ؟ " قَالَتْ: اللهُ رَبِّي قَالَ: " فَمَا دِينُكِ؟ " قَالَتْ: الْإِسْلَامُ قَالَ: " فَمَنْ أَنَا؟ " قَالَتْ: أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ: " فَتُصَلِّينَ الْخَمْسَ، وَتُقِرِّينَ بِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ؟ " قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، فَضَرَبَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا وقَالَ: " أَعْتِقِيهَا ".
Awn bin Abdullah bin Utbah narrates from his father, through his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a black slave girl and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I owe the freeing of a believing neck (slave); will this one suffice on my behalf? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "Who is your Lord?" She said: My Lord is Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is your religion?" She said: Islam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who am I?" She said: You are the Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you pray the five prayers, and do you affirm what I have brought from Allah?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) struck her on the back and said: "Free her."
