أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، أنا جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ، نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ هُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى ⦗٦٣٨⦘ يَقُولُوا: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، فَإِذَا شَهِدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَآمَنُوا بِي وَبِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ، فَقَدْ عَصَمُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَةَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to keep fighting people until they bear witness that there is no god but Allah. When they bear witness that there is no god but Allah and believe in the law I have brought, they have protected their lives from me, except by the right of Islam, and their reckoning is with Allah."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبُوشَنْجِيُّ، نا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، نا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَارِيَةٍ لَهُ سَوْدَاءَ فَقَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ عَلَيَّ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً أَفَأُعْتِقُ هَذِهِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَتَشْهَدِينَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ؟ " قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَتَشْهَدِينَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ؟ " قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَتُوقِنِينَ بِالْبَعْثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ؟ " قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " فَأَعْتِقْهَا " هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ وَقَدْ مَضَى مَوْصُولًا بِبَعْضِ مَعْنَاهُ.
Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah bin Mas'ud (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a man of the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with his black slave girl and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I owe the freeing of a believing neck (slave); shall I free this one? He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the slave girl: "Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah?" The slave girl said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah?" The slave girl answered yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you certain of being raised after death?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Free her."

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، نا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الضُّبَعِيُّ، نا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، نا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ الشَّرِيدِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي أَوْصَتْ إِلِيَّ أَنْ أَعْتِقْ عَنْهَا رَقَبَةً وَإِنَّ عِنْدِي جَارِيَةً سَوْدَاءَ نُوبِيَّةً، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ادْعُ بِهَا " فَقَالَ: " مَنْ رَبُّكِ؟ " قَالَتْ: اللهُ، قَالَ: " فَمَنْ أَنَا؟ " قَالَتْ: رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ: " أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ ".
Sayyiduna al-Sharid bin Suwayd al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My mother left instructions to free a neck (slave) on her behalf, and I have a black slave girl. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call her." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is your Lord?" The slave girl said: Allah. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who am I?" She said: The Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Free her; she is a believer."
