Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I came to the city of al-Hirah and the people there were prostrating to their chief. I said: We are more entitled to prostrate to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When I returned, I told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what I had seen and said: We are more entitled to prostrate to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so. If you were to pass by my grave, would you prostrate?" I said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do not do it. If I were to command anyone to prostrate, I would command women to prostrate to their husbands, because Allah, the Lord of Might, has placed their rights upon them."

Husayn bin Mihsan says: My paternal aunt (may Allah be pleased with her) told me: I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for some need, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have a husband?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How are you towards him?" She said: I do not fall short with him, except in what I am unable to do. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then consider where you stand with him, for he is your Paradise and your Hell."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a man brought his daughter to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This daughter of mine has refused to marry." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Obey your father." She said: "By the One who sent you with the truth! I will not marry until you tell me what the right of the husband over his wife is." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The right of the husband over his wife is such that if the husband had a sore and his wife licked it clean, she still would not have fulfilled his right."
