Sayyiduna Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyidah Zaynab bint Abi Salamah, whose mother is Sayyidah Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them both), informed him that Sayyidah Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her) told her that she said: O Messenger of Allah, marry my sister Zaynab bint Abi Sufyan. She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would you like that?" She said: I said: Yes, I am not one to be stingy (about this), and I would love for my sister to share with me in good. She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is not lawful for me." She said: We have been told that you intend to marry Durrah bint Abi Salamah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The daughter of Umm Salamah?" She said: I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, even if she were not my stepdaughter raised in my care, she would not be lawful for me; she is the daughter of my brother through nursing, for Thuwaybah nursed Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) and me. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters." Sayyiduna Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Thuwaybah was the slave-woman of Abu Lahab; Abu Lahab freed her, and she nursed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When Abu Lahab died, one of his family saw him in a dream in a wretched state and said: What did you meet with? Abu Lahab said: I have met no ease since (leaving) you, except that I am given to drink from this because of my freeing Thuwaybah. And he pointed to the small hollow between his thumb and the finger next to it.
