Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah, marry my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would you like that?" She said: Yes, I am not one to be stingy with you, and what I love most is that my sister should share in my good. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is not lawful for me." She said: I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we have learned that you intend to marry Durrah bint Abi Salamah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The daughter of Umm Salamah?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, even if she were not being raised in my care, she would still not be lawful for me, because she is the daughter of my brother through nursing; for Thuwaybah nursed me and Abu Salamah. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters."
