The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no marriage except with the permission of a sensible (rightly guided) guardian, or else with the permission of the ruler (the king)."
Only al-Qawariri narrated it as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), and al-Qawariri is thiqah (trustworthy); however, what is well known with this chain is that it is mawquf on Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: There is no marriage without (the permission of) a guardian or the king. If a foolish person or a disreputable person married her off, then there is no marriage for him.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no marriage without a guardian and two upright witnesses. If a disreputable guardian married her off, then that marriage is void."
Adi bin al-Fadl narrated it thus, and he is da'if (weak); the correct version is mawquf. And Allah knows best.
