It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him), a man of the Ansar, that one day he was talking to the people, and he had humour in him, making them laugh, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) poked him in his side with a stick. He said: "Shall I take retaliation for it?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take retaliation." He said: "You are wearing a shirt, while my body had no shirt on it." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted his shirt, and he took hold of him and began kissing his side, and said: "O Messenger of Allah! This (kissing your body) is all I intended."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was in the delegation of Abd al-Qays. He said: We hurried down from our mounts, racing one another, so that we could kiss the hand and foot of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna al-Mundhir al-Ashajj (may Allah be pleased with him) waited until he came to his bag, and he put on his clothes (taking them out of it). Then he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are two traits in you which Allah Almighty loves: hilm (forbearance) and anah (deliberateness)." He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Are these two (traits) to be acquired by me (now), or has Allah Almighty given me these traits by nature? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, Allah Almighty has given you both by nature." He said: I thanked Allah Almighty for granting these two good qualities, two traits which Allah and His Messenger love.
