Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I got married. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Whom have you married?" I said: "A previously married woman." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not marry a virgin, so that you could play with her?" Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not marry a virgin, so that you could play with her and she could play with you?"

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Abdullah died and left behind seven or nine daughters. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I married a previously married woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "O Jabir! Have you married?" I said: "Yes!" He said: "A virgin or a previously married woman?" I said: "A previously married woman." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not marry a young virgin? You would play with her and she would play with you, you would laugh with her and she would laugh with you." I said: "Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) died and left seven or nine daughters, and I disliked bringing them someone just like them. I preferred to bring them a woman who would look after them well." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty bless you," or he said: "(May He grant you) good."

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! (Suppose) you come to a valley in which there are trees, one tree from which (animals) have eaten, and you (peace and blessings be upon him) find another tree from which nothing has been eaten; from which of them would you graze?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "From the tree from which nothing has been eaten." She says: "So I am that one," because the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not marry any virgin other than me.
