Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) there was a man's slave woman who had borne him children (umm walad), who used to speak ill of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a great deal and revile him. He would forbid her, but she would not stop, and he would rebuke her, but she would not desist. One night she mentioned the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and spoke ill of him. He said: I could not restrain myself; I got up, went to the pickaxe, took it and placed it on her belly, then leaned on it until I killed her. He said: Her two infants fell between her legs, smeared with blood. In the morning this was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He gathered the people and said: "I adjure by Allah the man who did what he did, if he holds that the Prophet has a right over him, to stand up." So the blind man, meaning the killer, came forward trembling, and he said something (the narrator Abu al-Husayn said: it has escaped me), and he said: She was a gentle and kind companion, but she used to speak ill of you a great deal and revile you. I would forbid her but she would not stop, and I would rebuke her but she would not desist. Last night I mentioned you and she spoke ill of you, and I could not restrain myself; I got up, went to the pickaxe and placed it on her belly. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bear witness that her blood is unavenged (hadar)."
