Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the verse "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love" [Surah Al Imran: 92] was revealed, Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I think our Lord is asking us for our wealth; I make you my witness that I dedicate my land at Ariha to Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Distribute it among your relatives." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed it between Hassan bin Thabit and Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them both).
(b) He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Distribute it among the poor of your relatives." So he distributed it between Hassan and Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them both).
