Huzayl bin Shurahbil (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man came to Abu Musa and Salman bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked them what the ruling is concerning a daughter, a son's daughter and a full sister. They both said: "For the daughter a half, and the remainder is for the full sister." And they said to him: "Go to Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and ask him; he will agree with us." The man came to Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned the whole matter. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then I would have gone astray and would not be among the rightly guided. Rather, I will judge in it with the judgement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): 'For the daughter a half, for the son's daughter a sixth to complete the two-thirds, and for the sister what remains.'"
