Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the wealthiest of the Ansar of Madinah, and among his most beloved properties was 'Bi'r Bayraha'' (the well of Bayraha'); it was facing the mosque. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to enter it and drink of its pure water. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When this verse was revealed: "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love." [Surah Al Imran: 92], Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Allah says: 'You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love.' [Surah Al Imran: 92] And my most beloved property is 'Bi'r Bayraha'' (the well of Bayraha'). It is charity for Allah; I hope for its reward and that it will be a treasure stored with Allah Almighty. O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Take it and (place it) wherever Allah commands you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is 'mal ra'ih' (a wealth that brings comfort), and I have heard what you said. I think that you should distribute it among your relatives." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will do (so), O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" Then Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed it among his relatives and his cousins.
Isma'il (may Allah have mercy on him) says: A wealth that brings comfort is one that brings good in the morning and good in the evening.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse: "You will never attain righteousness until you spend" [Surah Al Imran: 92] was revealed, Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I think our Lord is asking us for (some of) our wealth. I bear witness, O Messenger of Allah, that I have dedicated my land to Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Distribute it among your relatives." So Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed it between Hassan bin Thabit and Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), in what he put forward as proof to the Ansar on the day of Saqifah, said: Allah Almighty sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) "with guidance and the religion of truth" [Surah al-Tawbah: 33]. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called to Islam, and Allah Almighty turned our hearts and our forelocks towards that to which we were called. We, the group of the Muhajirun, were the first to accept Islam, and we are his (peace and blessings be upon him) relatives.
