Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I freed one of my slave-girls but did not ask permission of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When the day came on which he would visit her, she said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you know that I have freed such-and-such slave-girl of mine? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you really?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Had you given that slave-girl to your maternal uncles, you would have had a far greater reward for it."

Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allah! I have nothing except what al-Zubayr brings to me; would there be any sin on me if I give a little (in charity) out of what he brings me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give what you can, and do not hoard, lest Allah withhold from you."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered the sermon after the Eid prayer, then came to the women, because he thought that his voice had not reached them; Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) admonished the women and commanded them to give charity, so the women began dropping their rings and earrings into a cloth, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding that cloth. One hadith has these words: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to the prayer ground on the day of Eid al-Fitr, led two rak'ahs of prayer, then delivered the sermon, then came to the women and told them to give charity, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him, and they began dropping their jewellery."
