Salim narrates from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: For me to lend two dinars twice is dearer to me than to give them both in charity, because the two dinars that I lend will come back to me, then I will give them in charity, and so I will have a double reward.
(b) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): That I lend twice is dearer to me than that I give charity or a gift only once.
(c) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I lend twice, that is dearer to me than giving charity once.

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever lends silver twice, it is equal to giving it in charity once."
Sulayman bin Yusayr narrated it this way, and al-Bukhari said: He is not strong. Others narrated it from Abdullah bin Mas'ud as his own saying, and its attribution to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is weak.

Al-Aswad bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him) used to borrow from a merchant who was a freed slave (mawla) of the Nakha' tribe, and when his stipend came out he would repay him. When his stipend came out, al-Aswad said to him: If you wish, defer it for us, for we have other obligations to meet from this stipend. The merchant said: I will not do it. So al-Aswad paid him 500 dirhams in cash. When the merchant had received them, the merchant said: Here, take them back. Al-Aswad said: I asked you for this earlier and you refused. The merchant said: I heard you narrating from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever lends something twice, it is for him equal to giving it in charity once."
Only Abdullah bin al-Husayn Abu Hariz, the judge of Sijistan, narrated it, and he is not strong.
