أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ بَنِي بَكْرٍ قَالَا: " رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ بَيْنَ أَوْسَطِ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَاحِلَتِهِ وَهِيَ خُطْبَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّتِي خَطَبَ مِنًى ".
Abu Najih narrates from two men of Banu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that they said: We saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon in the middle of the days of Tashriq while we were beside his mount, and this is the sermon that he (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered at Mina.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ النُّعْمَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرٍو إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ نُجَيْدٍ السُّلَمِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو ⦗٢٤٧⦘ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حِصْنٍ الْغَنَوِيِّ، حَدَّثَتْنِي سَرَّاءُ بِنْتُ نَبْهَانَ، وَكَانَتْ رَبَّةَ بَيْتٍ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ: " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ أِيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ " قَالَ: وَهُوَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي يَدْعُونَ يَوْمَ الرُّءُوسِ قَالُوا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: " هَذَا أَوْسَطُ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ، هَلْ تَدْرُونَ أِيَّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ " قَالُوا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: " هَذَا الْمَشْعَرُ الْحَرَامُ " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " إِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي لَعَلِّي لَا أَلْقَاكُمْ بَعْدَ هَذَا، أَلَا وَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْا رَبَّكُمْ، فَيَسْأَلَكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ، أَلَا فَلْيُبَلِّغْ أَدْنَاكُمْ أَقْصَاكُمْ، أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ " فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ لَمْ يَلْبَثْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا حَتَّى مَاتَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَقَالَ: قَالَتْ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الرُّءُوسِ.
Sayyidah Sarra' bint Nabhan (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say during the Farewell Hajj: "Do you know what day this is?" And it was the day that used to be called Yawm al-Ru'us (the Day of the Heads). The people said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the middle day of the days of Tashriq. Do you know what city this is?" They said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is al-Mash'ar al-Haram (the Sacred Monument)." Then he said: "I do not know; perhaps I may meet you after this or perhaps not. Behold! Your wealth, your blood and your honour are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours in this city of yours, until you meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Behold! Let those who are near convey this to those who are far. Behold! Have I conveyed?" When we reached Madinah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away after only a short while.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَامِدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارُ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ الرَّبَذِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنِي صَدَقَةُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللهِ وَالْفَتْحُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَسَطِ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ وَعَرَفَ أَنَّهُ الْوَدَاعُ، فَأَمَرَ بِرَاحِلَتِهِ الْقَصْوَاءِ فَرُحِّلَتْ لَهُ فَرَكِبَ، فَوَقَفَ بِالْعَقَبَةِ وَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ، فَقَالَ: " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ " فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When this surah, "When the help of Allah and the victory come" [Surah al-Nasr: 1], was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the middle of the days of Tashriq, he (peace and blessings be upon him) knew that it was the farewell. He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his she-camel al-Qaswa', and she was saddled; he (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted, stopped at al-Aqabah, and the people gathered. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people!" and he mentioned the rest of his sermon.
