The Mother of the Believers Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that in the year of the Farewell Hajj the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his wives "to come out of ihram." Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him: What prevents you (peace and blessings be upon him) from coming out of ihram? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have matted my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animal, so I cannot come out of ihram until I have slaughtered my sacrifice."

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever braided his hair for ihram should shave his head; do not imitate matting (talbid).
This is the authentic (version), from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever matted his hair for ihram, shaving the head has become obligatory upon him."
This Abdullah bin Nafi' is not strong; what is correct is that it is the saying of Umar and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and likewise Salim narrated it from his father, from Umar.

And Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a state of talbid (with his hair matted).
