Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I rode behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Arafat. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the mountain pass before Muzdalifah, he made his mount kneel and urinated. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and I poured the water of ablution for him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a light ablution. I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The prayer." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is ahead of you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted until he came to Muzdalifah and prayed. Then on the morning of Jam', Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) rode behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). Kurayb (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) told me, narrating from Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying the talbiyah until he stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah.
The shi'b (mountain pass) is the place which the rulers enter.

Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he reached the mountain pass which the rulers enter, he called for water for ablution and performed ablution. I said: The prayer! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is ahead of you." When he came to Muzdalifah, he had the iqamah called and prayed Maghrib; the last of the people had not yet arrived when he had the iqamah called and prayed Isha.

Kurayb said: I asked Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both) what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did when he returned from Arafah. He said: He returned from Arafah until, when he came near the mountain pass, he turned towards it, dismounted and urinated. I brought him water, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a light ablution. Then I said: Are you (peace and blessings be upon him) not going to pray? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is ahead of you." Then he mounted until he reached Jam', dismounted and performed ablution for the prayer. Then he offered the Maghrib prayer, three rak'ahs, and the Isha prayer, two rak'ahs, and did not offer any voluntary prayer or the like between them.
