Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj, and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me that the first thing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did on arriving in Makkah was to perform ablution and then perform tawaf of the House.

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When I arrived in Makkah I was menstruating, so I did not perform tawaf of the House or go between Safa and Marwah. I complained of this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Do as the pilgrims do, except for performing tawaf of the House, until you become pure."

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with nothing in mind but Hajj. When we reached Sarif, or were near it, my menses began. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was weeping, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter with you? Have your menses begun?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a matter that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Do whatever the pilgrims do, except for tawaf of the House, until you have taken the ritual bath." When we were at Mina, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed cows on behalf of all his wives.
(b) In the narration of Abu Abdullah from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), there is no mention of the menses, nor of the words "Then when we were at Mina." She also said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives.
