Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said the talbiyah for Hajj alone. Then Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from his assignment, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Ali, with what did you say the talbiyah?" He said: With what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then offer a sacrificial animal and remain in ihram as you are."

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) had made his mount kneel at al-Batha, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "With what did you say the talbiyah?" I said: I said: "Labbayka bi-ihlalin ka-ihlal al-Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him)" (O Allah, here I am, with a talbiyah like the talbiyah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have done well." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me, so I performed tawaf of the House (the Ka'bah) and of Safa and Marwah.
