Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Allah Almighty does not accept the prayer of a man on whose body there is anything of khaluq (saffron perfume)."

Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came home to my family at night, and my hands were cracked, so they applied saffron to me. In the morning I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) neither returned my greeting nor welcomed me, and he said: "Go and wash this off." I went and washed it, then came back while some trace of it still remained on me, and I greeted him with salam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) neither returned my greeting nor said "Marhaban" (Welcome), and he said: "Go and wash this off." I washed it, then came and greeted him with salam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) returned my greeting, said "Marhaban" (Welcome) and said: "The angels do not attend the funeral of a disbeliever with good, nor (come near) one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub), nor one who is smeared with saffron." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a concession to the junub: when he is about to eat, drink or sleep, he should perform ablution (wudu).

Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three whom the angels do not approach with good: the corpse of a disbeliever, one who is smeared with saffron, and the junub (one in a state of major ritual impurity); if he wishes to eat or sleep, let him perform ablution like his ablution for prayer."
