Mutarrif said: Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am narrating a hadith to you; perhaps Allah Almighty will benefit you by it after this day. Know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had some of his family perform Umrah in the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, and no Qur'an was revealed abrogating it. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) perform Umrah in Dhu al-Hijjah only to put an end to the claim of the polytheists, for these Quraysh and those who followed their way used to say: When the wounds are gone, the marks have faded and the month of Safar has begun, then Umrah becomes lawful for the one who performs Umrah. They used to call Muharram Safar. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) arrived on the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah reciting the talbiyah for Hajj, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them: "Make it an Umrah." This weighed heavily on them. They said: How will we come out of ihram after the Umrah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Complete release, that is, everything that was forbidden to them because of ihram becomes permissible."

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the year of the Farewell Hajj. Some of us recited the talbiyah for Umrah only, some for both Hajj and Umrah, and some for Hajj only, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the talbiyah for Hajj.
