The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: O Messenger of Allah, the people will return having earned two rites of worship, and shall I go back with only one? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Wait; when you become pure, go out to Tan'im and enter ihram with the talbiyah from there, then come to us at such-and-such a place. But the reward is according to your hardship and fatigue."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Of the things I missed in my youth, I do not regret anything except that I could not perform Hajj on foot. Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed twenty-five Hajj pilgrimages on foot, while the finest mounts were led along with him. He shared his wealth with Allah three times (giving half of it away), to the extent that he would give away a leather sock (khuff) and keep a sandal.
A marfu' hadith has been narrated from Ibn Abbas on this, and there is weakness in it.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) fell ill, so he gathered his family and said: O my sons, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever performs the Hajj of Makkah on foot until he returns, for every step seven hundred good deeds of the Haram are written for him." Someone asked: What are these good deeds of the Haram? He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Each good deed is equal to one hundred thousand good deeds.
Only this Isa bin Sawadah narrated it, and he is majhul (unknown).
