And a caller calls out: O seeker of good, come forward! And O seeker of evil, cut short (stop)! And Allah Almighty also frees (people) from Hell."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The month of Ramadan has cast its shade over you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on oath: "No month has passed over the Muslims that is better for them than it, nor any month over the hypocrites that is worse for them than it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stated on oath: "Allah Almighty writes the reward of its voluntary deeds before it even begins, and He writes its sins and its wretchedness before it begins as well. That is because the believer prepares for worship in it, while the hypocrite prepares for the heedlessness of the Muslims and pursues their faults. So it is a gain for the believer, which the wicked one seizes for himself."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) climbed the pulpit and said: "Amin, amin, amin." It was said to him: You did not use to do this? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril, the Trustworthy, said to me: May the nose of the person be rubbed in dust upon whom the month of Ramadan came and he did not have himself forgiven. So I said: Amin. Then he said: May the nose of the person be rubbed in dust in whose presence you are mentioned and he does not send blessings upon you. So I said: Amin. Then he said: May the nose of the person be rubbed in dust who found his parents, both or one of them, and then did not enter Paradise because of them. So I said: Amin."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for it is for Me and I alone will reward it. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the smell of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasing to Allah Almighty than musk."
(In Sahih Muslim, the hadith of Ibn Wahb is narrated via Harmalah, in which it says that Allah Almighty says: "Every deed of the son of Adam.")

The smell of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasing to Allah Almighty than the fragrance of musk. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: He leaves his desire, his food and his drink only for My sake; fasting is for Me and I alone will reward it. Every good deed is multiplied from tenfold up to seven hundred times, except fasting, for it is for Me and I alone will reward it."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied: each good deed is multiplied from ten up to seven hundred times. Allah, Glorified is He, said: Except fasting, for it is for Me and I will give its reward, because he gives up eating, drinking and desire for My sake. And for the fasting person there are two joys: one joy at the time of breaking his fast and the other joy at the time of meeting his Lord. Indeed, the smell of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasing to Allah Almighty than musk. Fasting is a shield, fasting is a shield."

Ishaq bin Ayyub al-Wasiti (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that he heard a man saying to Sufyan bin Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him): O Abu Muhammad! Tell us about what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrates from his Lord: "Every deed of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for it is for Me and I alone will give its reward." Ibn Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is among the finest of hadiths and is firmly established. When the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah Almighty will take account of His servant and will settle whatever wrongs he owes out of all his deeds, until nothing remains but fasting; then Allah Almighty will remove the remaining wrongs and admit him into Paradise because of the fasting.
