Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), a man from Banu Abd al-Ashhal, the brothers of Qushayr, said: The cavalry of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raided us, so I went to him and found him eating. He said: "Come near and eat." I said: I am fasting. He said: "Sit, I will speak to you about fasting," or he said: "about the fasts." Then he said: "Allah Almighty has remitted half of the prayer for the traveller, and fasting for the traveller, the pregnant woman and the nursing woman." By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said them, both of them or one of them. Then he said: Alas for me! If only I had eaten from the food of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was eating. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come and eat." He said: I am fasting. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, fasting has been remitted for the traveller, the pregnant woman or the nursing woman, and the prayer has been lightened for the traveller."
