Al-Rabi' bin Sulayman (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) informed us: "Whoever deliberately vomits, making up the fast is obligatory on him; and whoever is overcome by vomiting, there is no making up due from him." Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) informed us of this.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is overcome by vomiting while he is fasting, there is no making up due from him; but if he made himself vomit, then he must make up the fast, which he should perform."

Hafs bin Ghiyath (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Hisham bin Hassan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated the hadith with the same meaning. And it is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said about vomiting: It does not break the fast.
Only Hisham bin Hassan al-Firdawsi narrated it, and some of the hadith masters do not regard it as mahfuz (preserved). Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad bin Hanbal say: There is nothing in this. It has also been narrated from Abu Hurayrah as a statement of the Prophet (marfu') through another, weak chain.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever eats out of forgetfulness while fasting, then it is provision that Allah has given him; and when he makes himself vomit while fasting, he must make it up; and when vomiting overcomes him, then there is no making up due.

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and then broke his fast. He (the narrator) said: I met Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in the mosque of Damascus, and I said to him: Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and broke his fast. He said: He has spoken the truth, and I was the one pouring water for him.
This hadith is disputed with regard to its chain; if it is authentic, then it is to be understood as referring to a case where he vomited deliberately, and that his fast was a voluntary one.

Abu Shaybah al-Mahri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We said to Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him): Narrate a hadith to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) vomit, and then he (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast.

Zayd bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from one of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who vomits does not break his fast, nor the one who has a wet dream, nor the one who has himself cupped."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three things that do not break the fast of a fasting person: vomiting, cupping and a wet dream."
Abd al-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam is da'if (weak), and what is mahfuz (preserved) from Zayd bin Aslam is the first narration.
