Sayyiduna Abu Barzah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on one of his military expeditions. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished the fighting, he said: "Are you missing anyone?" They said: By Allah, we are missing so-and-so and so-and-so. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Look, are you missing anyone?" They said: We are missing so-and-so and so-and-so. He said: "But I am missing Julaybib, so search for him." The Companions found him beside seven men whom he had killed, and then they had killed him. He was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and said: "He killed seven, then they killed him. This one is from me and I am from him. He killed seven and they killed him. This one is from me and I am from him." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this two or three times. Then the narrator gestured with his forearms, spreading them out, (describing how) he was placed on the forearms of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until a grave was dug for him; he had no bier other than the forearms of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until he was buried. The narrator said: He did not mention his being washed.
