أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ إِمْلَاءً، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الشَّهِيدُ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَيُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: " أَصَابَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ قَحْطٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُنَا يَوْمَ جُمُعَةِ، إِذْ قَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلَكَ الْكُرَاعُ، وَهَلَكَ الشَّاءُ؛ فَادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَسْقِيَنَا، فَمَدَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ وَدَعَا "؛ قَالَ أَنَسٌ: وَإِنَّ السَّمَاءَ لَمِثْلُ الزُّجَاجَةِ، فَهَاجَتْ رِيحٌ، ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَتْ سَحَابًا، ثُمَّ اجْتَمَعَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْتِ السَّمَاءُ عَزَالِيَهَا؛ فَخَرَجْنَا نَخُوضُ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا مَنَازِلَنَا فَلَمْ تَزَلْ تُمْطِرُ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، تَهَدَّمَتِ الْبُيُوتُ، فَادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَحْبِسَهُ؛ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " اللهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا " قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى السَّحَابِ تَصَدَّعَ حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ كَأَنَّهَا إِكْلِيلٌ ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the people of Madinah were struck by a drought. Once, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the Friday sermon to us, a man stood up and said: The livestock and the goats have perished, so supplicate to Allah that He give us water. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his hands and supplicated. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: At that time the sky was as clear as glass. A wind blew, which produced clouds and gathered them. Then the sky opened its spouts, and we went out wading through the water until we reached our homes, and it kept raining until the following Friday. Then the same man, or some other man, stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! The houses have collapsed; supplicate to Allah Almighty that He hold back the rain. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Allahumma hawalayna wa la 'alayna' (O Allah, (take it) around us, and do not let it rain upon us). Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I looked at the clouds, and they spread out around Madinah like a bow.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، أنبأ جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ، إِلَّا فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْهُمَا.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands in any supplication except in the prayer for rain (istisqa'); in it he (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits could be seen.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْفَرَّاءُ، أنبأ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ؛ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ، يَعْنِي فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ ". رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raising his hands until the whiteness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) armpits was seen, that is, in the supplication for rain (istisqa').
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، أنبأ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَا: ثنا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَسْقَى، فَقَالَ هَكَذَا، وَمَدَّ يَدَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ بُطُونَهُمَا مِمَّا يَلِي الْأَرْضَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ ". زَادَ عَلِيٌّ: " وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ".
Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for rain, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) did like this: he raised his hands and turned the palms of his hands towards the ground, until I saw the whiteness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) armpits. Ali added these words: 'Wa huwa 'ala al-minbar' (while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was on the pulpit).
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَشْيَبُ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَسْقَى فَأَشَارَ بِظَهْرِ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ". رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَى.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for rain and pointed towards the sky with the backs of his hands.
