Ziyad bin Ilaqah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) say that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the sun was eclipsed on the day Ibrahim died. The people said that the sun was eclipsed because of Ibrahim's death. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah. They do not lose their light because of anyone's death or life. When you see them, supplicate to Allah and pray until they become bright."

Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); she described the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the solar eclipse, as has already passed in the hadith of Bahr bin Nasr from Ibn Wahb, but at its end there are some additional words. The narrator said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray until this state is lifted from you."
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In this place of mine I have seen everything that you have been promised, so much so that I wanted to take a bunch of grapes from Paradise; that was when you saw me stepping forward. And I saw Hell, parts of it consuming other parts; that was when you saw me stepping back. And I saw in it Ibn Luhayy, the one who first set animals free in the name of idols."
