(a) Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Qur'an to us; when he passed by a verse of prostration, he would say the takbir and prostrate, and we would also prostrate with him.
(b) Abdur Razzaq said that al-Thawri (may Allah have mercy on him) liked this hadith.
(c) Imam Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) said: He liked this hadith because it mentions the takbir.

(a) Abdullah bin Muslim bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that when a man recites a verse of prostration, he should not prostrate until he has completed the whole verse. When he has completed it, he should raise his hands, say the takbir and prostrate. (b) He said: I heard Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) saying the same, and it is reported from al-Rabi' bin Subayh, from al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him), that he said: "When you recite a verse of prostration, say the takbir and prostrate, and when you rise, say the takbir." (c) It is also reported from Abu Abdur Rahman al-Sulami (may Allah have mercy on him) and Abu al-Ahwas (may Allah have mercy on him) that they both gave a single salam to the right in the prostration of recitation. (d) Some narrated it as marfu' from Abu Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) up to Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). (e) It is also reported from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that he performed the prostration of recitation and did not give salam. (f) Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There is no salam in the prostration of recitation.
