Chapter: The evidence of the one who held that the order may be left aside when making up missed prayers, and this is the view of Imam Tawus and Imam al-Hasan.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Trench, the Asr prayer was missed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) because of his engagement in the fighting. He offered the Asr prayer between Maghrib and Isha, and said: "We were kept occupied from the middle prayer. May Allah Almighty fill their graves and their houses with fire."

(a) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Trench, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These enemies kept us occupied from the middle prayer (the Asr prayer); may Allah fill their houses and their graves with fire." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Asr prayer between Maghrib and Isha.
(b) It is also narrated with a weak chain that he broke off the first prayer, first prayed Asr, and then offered the Maghrib prayer.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Jum'ah Habib bin Siba' (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Trench, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Maghrib and forgot to pray Asr. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "Did you see me pray the Asr prayer?" They said: "No, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the mu'adhdhin to call the adhan; then, after the iqamah, he led the Asr prayer, broke off the first one, and then offered the Maghrib prayer.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Asr and then prayed Maghrib after it. In this narration there is also the possibility that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did this on one day, while Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates about another day, and the hadiths of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) are about yet another day. By the words of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) "between Maghrib and Isha" is meant the time between sunset and Isha.
If it is taken this way, it will agree with the narration of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him). And Allah knows best.
