It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nothing makes water impure, except what overpowers its taste and smell."

Abu al-Azhar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated with his chain, like the previous hadith, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the water amounts to two qullahs (large jars), nothing makes it impure, except what overpowers its taste and smell."
I found it like this, and the wording "two qullahs" in it is gharib (unusual).

It is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Water is pure unless its smell, taste or colour is changed by impurity falling into it."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Water does not become impure unless its smell and taste change."
The hadith is not strong; however, we know of no disagreement that water becomes impure when it is changed by impurity. And Allah knows best.

Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says: The narration that "when the taste, smell and colour of water change, it becomes impure" is reported through a chain that is not established according to the scholars of hadith. This is the view of the majority; I do not know of any disagreement among them.
