أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الشَّهِيدِ، ثنا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " فُضِّلْنَا عَلَى النَّاسِ بِثَلَاثٍ: جُعِلَتْ لَنَا الْأَرْضُ كُلُّهَا مَسْجِدًا، وَجُعِلَ تُرَابُهَا لَنَا طَهُورًا إِذَا لَمْ نَجْدِ الْمَاءَ، وَجُعِلَتْ صُفُوفُنَا كَصُفُوفِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ، وَأُوتِيتُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْآيَاتِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ مِنْ بَيْتِ كَنْزٍ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ لَمْ يُعْطَ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ قَبْلِي وَلَا أَحَدٌ بَعْدِي " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ وَذَكَرَ خَصْلَةً أُخْرَى فَلَمْ يُفَسِّرْهَا.
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We have been favoured over people by three things: the whole earth has been made a place of prayer for us, and its soil has been made pure for us when we do not find water, and our rows have been made like the rows of the angels. And the last verses of Surah al-Baqarah have been given (to me) from a treasure-house beneath the Throne; they were not given to anyone before me, nor will they be given to anyone after me."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَدِيبُ أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِّيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: " سَقَطَتْ قِلَادَةٌ لِي بِالْبَيْدَاءِ وَنَحْنُ دَاخِلُو الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَيْنَا رَأْسُهُ فِي حِجْرِي رَاقِدًا أَقْبَلَ أَبِي فَلَكَزَنِي لَكْزَةً شَدِيدَةً وَقَالَ: أَحَبَسْتِ النَّاسَ فِي قِلَادَةٍ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَالْتَمَسَ النَّاسُ الْمَاءَ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا وَنَزَلَتْ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ} [المائدة: ٦] إِلَى ذِكْرِ التَّيَمُّمِ، قَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ: لَقَدْ بَارَكَ اللهُ لِلنَّاسِ فِيكُمْ يَا آلَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا بَرَكَةٌ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ.
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that my necklace was lost at a place called al-Bayda', and we were about to enter Madinah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) halted. Meanwhile his head was in my lap and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was sleeping. My father came and gave me a hard poke and said: You have held the people back because of a necklace! Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and the time of prayer came. They searched for water but found none, so this verse of tayammum was revealed: "O you who believe, when you rise for prayer" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 6]. Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O family of Abu Bakr, Allah has placed blessing among the people because of you; you are nothing but a source of blessing.
