Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the expedition of Dhat al-Riqa' from Nakhl, and a Muslim man struck down the wife of a man from the polytheists. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set off on the return journey, her husband, who had been absent, came. When he was told the news, he swore that he would not rest until he had shed blood among the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he set out following the tracks of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) halted at a place and said: "Who will guard us tonight?" A man from the Muhajirun and a man from the Ansar stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! We (will do it). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Both of you go to the mouth of the valley." When they set out for the mouth of the valley, the Ansari said to the Muhajir: Which part of the night would you prefer, that is, will you sleep in the first part of the night or the last, so that I keep watch on your behalf? The Muhajir said: The first part of the night. The Muhajir lay down and fell asleep, and the Ansari stood up and began to pray. The woman's husband came; he saw that there was a guard, so he shot an arrow, which lodged in his body. The Ansari pulled it out and continued his prayer, standing in his place. He shot a second arrow, which also lodged in his body; the Ansari pulled it out as well and continued his prayer. The same happened a third time. Then he bowed and prostrated, then woke his companion and said: Sit up, for I have been wounded. So he sprang up. When the man saw the two of them, he realised that they had become alert to him, and he ran off. When the Muhajir saw the Ansari's blood, he said: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)! Why did you not wake me when the arrow first struck you? The Ansari said: I was reciting a surah and did not like to stop before completing it. When he shot at me again and again, I completed the prayer and told you. By Allah! Were it not for fear of neglecting the post that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to guard, I would not have cared even if my life had gone before I completed that surah.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a shortened report with the same meaning, at the end of which is: When the Muhajir saw the Ansari's blood, he said: 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah)! Why did you not tell me when he first shot (the arrow) at you? He said: I was reciting a surah and did not think it right to cut it off in the middle.

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that whenever he had cupping done, he would wash the places of the cupping.
(b) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Wash the traces of the cupping off your body, and that is sufficient for you."
This is also narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but its chain contains weakness.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الطهارة / 665
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done, then prayed and did not perform ablution, and he did not wash any part beyond the places of the cupping. (He washed only the place where the cupping had been done.)

It is narrated from Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him): I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) squeeze a pimple of his, and some blood came out of it, which he rubbed away between his two fingers; then he prayed and did not perform ablution.
A report with this meaning has been narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), then from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, Salim bin Abdullah, al-Hasan and Tawus (may Allah have mercy on them), and it is narrated from al-Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him): There is no ablution for one who has been cupped.

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Ablution is not obligatory because of a nosebleed, vomiting, touching the private part, or (eating) what fire has touched. It was said to him: Some people say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution from what fire has touched." He said: People heard it but did not retain it properly. We used to call washing the hands and washing the mouth 'wudu', and that is not obligatory. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the believers to wash their hands and mouths after (eating) what has been cooked on fire, and that is not obligatory.
Mutarrif bin Mazin has been criticised (by the scholars). And Allah knows best.

Hadith Takhrij«ضعيف۔ أخرجه الطبراني في الكبير 134»
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone vomits, regurgitates fluid or has a nosebleed during prayer, let him perform ablution, then build on the prayer he has already offered, as long as he has not spoken."
(b) Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever vomits or has a nosebleed" and he mentioned the rest of the hadith.
Ibn Adi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Ayyash narrated this hadith once in this way and once through Ibn Jurayj, from his father, from Aishah, and neither is preserved. Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) said: What Isma'il bin Ayyash narrates from the people of Syria is sound, and what he narrates from the people of Hijaz is not sound; Ibn Jurayj narrated this hadith only from his father, without a connected chain, and there is no mention of Aishah in it.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الطهارة / 669
Ibn Jurayj narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone vomits, regurgitates fluid or finds prostatic fluid (madhi) while he is in prayer, let him turn away, perform ablution, then come back and build on his earlier prayer, as long as he has not spoken."
(b) Muhammad bin Yahya said: It is correct that this is mursal from Ibn Jurayj.
(c) The hadith of Ibn Jurayj through Ibn Abi Mulaykah from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), which Isma'il bin Ayyash narrates, is not established.
(d) Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: What Ibn Jurayj narrates from his father is also not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and what he narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and others has been interpreted by some as washing some of the limbs.
(e) The Shaykh said: Isma'il bin Ayyash narrates it as mursal, a group narrates it from Ibn Jurayj in its preserved form, and it is indeed mursal.
(f) Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Concerning what is reported from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Ibn al-Musayyab (may Allah have mercy on him), that they would have a nosebleed, then perform ablution and build on what they had already prayed: we have narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Ibn al-Musayyab (may Allah have mercy on him) that they did not hold that blood requires ablution, so in our view the meaning of their ablution is washing off the blood and whatever part of the body it reached, not the ablution for prayer.
(g) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that after eating he washed both hands, then passed the wetness of his hands over his face and said: "This is the ablution of one who has not lost his ablution." It is well known in the speech of the Arabs that they called washing some of the limbs wudu as well, not only the complete ablution for prayer. In our view, this is the meaning of what is narrated by Ibn Jurayj, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about performing ablution because of a nosebleed. And Allah knows best.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This narration is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Shaykh said: What is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about vomiting is to be understood in the same way, if that narration is sound.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الطهارة / 670
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and broke his fast. I met Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque of Damascus and mentioned this to him, and he said: I poured the water of ablution for him (peace and blessings be upon him). This narration is mudtarib (inconsistent), and there is severe disagreement about it. And Allah knows best.
