Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the market from the direction of al-Aliyah, with people on both sides of him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a dead, small-eared young goat and took hold of it by its ear, then said: "Which of you would like to have this for one dirham?" They said: We would not like to take anything of it, and what would we do with it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would you like it to be yours?" They said: By Allah! Even if it were alive, it would be defective, because it is small-eared, so how (could we take it) when it is dead? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah! This world is more insignificant to Allah than this is to you."
