It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a garment stained by menstrual blood, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(The woman) should scrape it, then rub it with water, then sprinkle it with water and pray in it."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: Each woman among us had only one garment, and she would menstruate in it. If some blood got on that garment, she would moisten it with her saliva, then she (the woman) would rub it with her fingernail.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): One of us women would have a long shirt in which she menstruated or became in a state of major impurity (janabah); then, if she saw a drop of blood on it, she would rub it off with her saliva.
(b) This is about a small amount of blood, which is excused; as for a large amount, it is authentically reported from her that she used to wash it. Its evidence will come in its proper place, if Allah wills.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him): When one of you scratches his skin, he should not wipe it with his saliva, for it is not pure.
(b) The narrator said: I mentioned this to Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him), and he said: Wash it with water. What Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) meant is that saliva does not purify the blood that comes out from scratching. And Allah knows best.
(c) As for the hadith of Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Ammar! Your phlegm and your tears are only like the water in your vessel; you wash your garment only from urine, excrement, semen, blood and vomit."
This hadith is fabricated; it has no basis. Its chain is as follows: Thabit bin Hammad, from Ali bin Zayd, from Ibn al-Musayyib, from Ammar.
Ali bin Zayd is not taken as proof, and Thabit bin Hammad is accused of fabricating hadith.
