Bayhaqi 36 — Removing impurities with water rather than other liquids

It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her): I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a garment stained by menstrual blood, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Scrape it, then rub it with water, then sprinkle it with water and pray in it."
