أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ الْفَقِيهُ بِالطَّابَرَانِ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ خُلُقًا، وَكَانَ لِي أَخٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو عُمَيْرٍ، أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: فَطِيمٌ، فَكَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ، قَالَ: " أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ؟ " كَانَ يَلْعَبُ بِهِ، وَرُبَّمَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِنَا فَيَأْمُرُ بِالْبِسَاطِ الَّذِي تَحْتَهُ فَيُكْنَسُ وَيُنْضَحُ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ وَنَقُومُ خَلْفَهُ فَيُصَلِّي بِنَا رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ وَغَيْرِهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the best of people in character. I had a brother called Abu Umayr, who was newly weaned. Whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, he would say: "O Abu Umayr, what did the little bird do?" He used to play with it. Sometimes the time of prayer would come while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in our house, and he would order the mat beneath him to be swept and sprinkled with water. Then he would stand, we would stand behind him, and he would lead us in prayer.
