Bayhaqi 9771 — Those who disliked calling one who has not performed
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، أنبأ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أنبأ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: " لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ: إِنِّي صَرُورَةٌ فَإِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ لَيْسَ بِصَرُورَةٍ وَلَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ: إِنِّي حَاجٌّ فَإِنَّ الْحَاجَّ هُوَ الْمُحْرِمُ " مُرْسَلٌ وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: None of you should say: I am bound (sarurah), for a Muslim is not bound. And none of you should say: I am a hajji, for the hajji is only the one in ihram.
This is mursal, and it is mawquf on Abdullah bin Mas'ud.
