أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ شَاهِينَ، ثنا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ إِلَى السِّقَايَةِ فَاسْتَسْقَى، فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ: يَا فَضْلُ اذْهَبْ إِلَى أُمِّكَ فَأْتِ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَرَابٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهَا، فَقَالَ: " اسْقِنِي "، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُمْ يَجْعَلُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِيهِ، قَالَ: " اسْقِنِي " فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ أَتَى زَمْزَمَ وَهُمْ يَسْقُونَ وَيَعْمَلُونَ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ: " اعْمَلُوا فَإِنَّكُمْ عَلَى عَمِلٍ صَالِحٍ " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " لَوْلَا أَنْ تُغْلَبُوا لَنَزَلْتُ حَتَّى أَضَعَ الْحَبْلَ عَلَى هَذِهِ " يَعْنِي عَاتِقَهُ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى عَاتِقِهِ، رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ شَاهِينَ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to those providing drinking water and asked for a drink. Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Fadl! Go to your mother and bring a drink from her for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give me to drink." He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! These people put their hands in it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give me to drink." He (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Zamzam while they were giving water and working at it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep at it, for you are doing a righteous deed." Then he said: "Were it not that you would be overpowered, I would come down and place the rope here," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to his neck.
