أَخْبَرَنَا بِصِحَّةِ ذَلِكَ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، أَخْبَرَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَلَمْ تَرَيْ أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حِينَ بَنَوَا الْكَعْبَةَ اقْتَصَرُوا عَنْ قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟ " قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَفَلَا تَرُدُّهَا إِلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَوْلَا حِدْثَانُ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ لَفَعَلْتُ " فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَرَكَ اسْتِلَامَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانِ الْحَجَرَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يُتَمَّمْ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not see that when your people built the Ka'bah, they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" She said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then why do you not restore it to the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Were it not that your people have only recently left disbelief, I would have done so." Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: If Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then I think he (peace and blessings be upon him) left touching the two corners next to the Black Stone only because it was not completed on the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
