Ja'far bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that he said: We came to Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was among Banu Salimah, and we asked him about the Hajj of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He related the whole account and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and we set out with him (peace and blessings be upon him), until, when his (peace and blessings be upon him) she-camel mounted al-Bayda', he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the talbiyah of tawhid: 'Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la sharika laka labbayk, inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika lak' (Here I am, O Allah, here I am; here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, all praise and blessing are Yours, and the dominion; You have no partner). He said: The people would add words such as 'Dhal-Ma'arij' (O Possessor of the ascending ways) to it, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was listening, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say anything to them.
