أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ، ثنا جَدِّي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، أنبأ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ أِيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟، قَالَ: " الْعَجُّ وَالثَّجُّ " كَذَا رَوَاهُ جَمَاعَةٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ.
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked which deed is best, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-'ajj and al-thajj (raising the voice in the talbiyah and pouring forth the blood of sacrificial animals)."
