أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبُوشَنْجِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَسْلَمَ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَجَدَ رِيحَ طِيبٍ وَهُوَ بِالشَّجَرَةِ فَقَالَ: " مِمَّنْ رِيحُ هَذَا الطِّيبِ؟ " فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ: مِنِّي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " مِنْكَ لَعَمْرِي "، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ طَيَّبَتْنِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: " عَزَّمْتُ عَلَيْكَ لَتَرْجِعَنَّ فَلَتَغْسِلَنَّهُ ".
Aslam, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), said that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) noticed the smell of perfume while he was at the tree, and said: Where is this perfume coming from? Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Commander of the Believers, it is coming from me. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: From you! Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Commander of the Believers, Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) applied perfume to me. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I order you to go back and wash it off.
