Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the months of Hajj, making the talbiyah for Hajj, and we had entered ihram for Hajj alone, until, when we reached the place called Sarif, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him and wishes to make it an Umrah may do so, and whoever has a sacrificial animal with him cannot do so." Some acted upon this, and some of those who had no sacrificial animal did not take up this concession. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and those of his Companions who were strong, had sacrificial animals with them. She said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was weeping, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with you?" I said: I heard what you said to your Companions about Umrah. He said: "Then what is wrong with you?" I said: I cannot pray. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It does not matter; continue with your Hajj. It is hoped that Allah will enable you to perform Umrah as well. You are one of the daughters of Adam, and the same thing has happened to you as happens to the daughters of Adam." She said: I continued with my Hajj until, when we reached Mina, I became pure and performed tawaf of the House. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped in the valley of al-Muhassab, called Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: "Take your sister out of the Haram so that she can make the talbiyah for Umrah and perform tawaf of the House, and when you have both finished, come to me; I am waiting for you here." She said: We both went out and made the talbiyah, then I performed tawaf of the House and of Safa and Marwah, and we came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at night while he was still at his place. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have you finished?" I said: Yes! Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) announced the departure among his Companions. He set out, passing by the House, performed tawaf of it before the Fajr prayer, and then left for Madinah.
