أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ يَعْنِي إِنَّ أُمِّي نَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَحُجَّ فَمَاتَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ فَحُجِّي عَنْهَا أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكِ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتِ قَاضِيَتِهِ؟ " قَالَتْ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " اقْضُوا حَقَّ اللهِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ أَحَقُّ بِالْوَفَاءِ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ.
A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that her mother had vowed to perform Hajj but died before performing it; should she perform Hajj on her behalf? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Perform Hajj on her behalf. What do you think: if your mother owed a debt, would you pay it?" She said: Yes! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then pay Allah as well, for He is the most deserving of fulfilment."
