وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ ⦗٢٣⦘ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ تَغُسِّلُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ "، يَعْنِي حَنْظَلَةَ، " فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَهَ مَا شَأْنُهُ "، فَسُئِلَتْ صَاحِبَتُهُ فَقَالَتْ: خَرَجَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ حِينَ سَمِعَ الْهَائِعَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لِذَلِكَ غَسَّلَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ".
Asim bin Umar bin Qatadah says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the angels have washed your companion," meaning Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him), "so ask his family what his situation was." His wife was asked, and she said: When he heard the cry of alarm, he went out while in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is why the angels washed him."
