أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، قَالَا: أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، أنبأ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أنبأ الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ خَبَّابٍ، قَالَ: هَاجَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَنَحْنُ نَبْتَغِي وَجْهَ اللهِ، فَوَقَعَ أَجْرُنَا عَلَى اللهِ، فَمِنَّا مَنْ مَضَى مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ شَيْئًا كَانَ مِنْهُمْ: مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ إِلَّا نَمِرَةً، فَكُنَّا إِذَا غَطَّيْنَا رَأْسَهُ بَدَتْ رِجْلَاهُ وَإِذَا غَطَّيْنَا رِجْلَيْهِ بَدَا رَأْسُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " غَطُّوا رَأْسَهُ وَاجْعَلُوا عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ مِنَ الْإِذْخِرِ " وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَيْنَعَتْ لَهُ ثَمَرَتُهُ فَهُوَ يَهْدِبُهَا أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ، وَمُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ.
Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We emigrated with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty, so our reward became due with Allah Almighty. Among us are those who passed away before and consumed nothing of that reward; among them was Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), who was martyred at the Battle of Uhud. He left nothing behind except a woollen cloak (blanket). When we covered his head with it his feet were exposed, and when we put it over his feet his head was uncovered. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cover his head and put some idhkhir grass over his feet." And among us are those whose fruit has ripened and who are picking it.
