Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to us; she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us while we were washing his daughter, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wash her three or five times, or more than that if you see the need, with water and lote leaves, and at the end put camphor." When we had finished with that, he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw his waist-wrapper to us and said: "Shroud her in it."
He said: He did not add more than that. He said: I do not know which of his daughters it was. And he held that ish'ar means: wrap her in it. He said: And likewise Ibn Sirin used to order that a woman be wrapped in an inner wrapping and not be dressed in a waist-wrapper.
